Customer Reviews

Although the picture shows a street bike being loaded on this carrier the instructions say "Not recommended for most street bikes" Would have been nice to know that before I ordered it.

Anti wobble device, will not mount correctly on my receiver (Toyota). It tips as I tighten the center bolt then comes off when I tighten the other two bolts. I made a steel plate that fits inside the wobble device that allowed me to get it tight. However, it came off after less then 45 miles.

Picked up my new Honda 230M using this carrier. Used the provided strap to drive (very slowly) to the nearest Walmart and buy some other straps. The ones that came with the carrier are not to be trusted. Instructions say "Use straps at your own risk"

No problem with assembly. Instructions are very, very faded. I can't see the wobble device orientation in the picture. But the narrative describes how it is supposed to go on.

I have a small bag of sheet metal screws and washers left over. I have no idea what they are for. They are not shown in the parts list.

Instructions say the ramp stores on ether side - not true. There are threaded holes on one side only.

My carrier arrived damaged. The box looks like someone ran a forklift through one side.
Used Amazon Prime shipping, great deal there, but when the item arrived it was missing three key parts (brackets that hold it together), so had to ship the first one back. The second one arrived a few days later, Amazon was great, thankfully. This one had all the parts, but the holes did not align correctly. I checked, re-checked, and triple checked my work, but they drilled the holes wrong. I ended up pulling out the metal bits and drilling holes to make this assemble correctly. Unfortunately, this means it will rust since it was powder coated in areas that are now exposed metal.

Also plan on supplementing the straps provided with your own straps, would not trust the enclosed straps alone. All said and done though, even though this was painful, it is the best price you will get for this type of rack. When the first arrived, I was set on buying somewhere else, but everything else, with shipping, was twice for a more quality carrier. Also check out the seller's site, it is cheaper there, but went with the Prime shipping for $4 overnight, can't beat that for overnight.

As for the quality, it is made in China, and made poorly. I have used it for about 200 miles, and don't really trust it. After pulling over a few times to check the security of my bike, Yamaha 250, it had shifted a bit, even with five straps on it. Might want to look into buying a more expensive, better, USA built carrier.

Pros: price, shipping, Amazon customer service, light weight.

Cons: poor quality, missing parts at first, had to drill correct holes, worried my bike will be a Mack truck hood ornament someday.
Poor quality control during assembly. If you look at picture on website, the "fins" would not line up on the "shank" so the bolts would not go through the holes (putting these together supports/guides the aluminum track). I had to take it to a metal shop to drill out some new holes and then weld it to reinforce. Additionally, advertised as all aluminum but really only the track and ramp are; the rest of it (the main part that slides into receiver hitch) is heavy steel. Straps are poor quality but that should be no surprise. I live in remote location, so had to go with this one due to Amazon free shipping, but definitely wouldn't recommend to anyone not needing to take advantage of remote location free shipping. Many other companies ship better quality products free to states other than Hawaii or Alaska.
great product. difficult to use by your self epically if your hitch is very high. if you need to load by your self you might consider a tilting one
Pro's
-its cheap and holds your bike just fine. Anyone who's got problems with its stability either didn't put it together correctly, or didn't use the anti tilt bracket that comes with it. Something to note...The bolts should be facing UP on the anti tilt bracket not down.

Con's- the straps are useless, throw them away immediately or use them to tie down something of your wife's you WANT to fall of the trailer while moving.
It comes with the worst instructions EVER, you'll have to google some pictures to find out what its supposed to be put together like. I put the it together in about 30min. I've got some leftover parts...which is always scary, but I've concluded I don't need them and China is just trying to slowly push its metallic waste to people around the world in the form of small screws.

Summary: I use this for my 2005 WR250F. I've got the rack on a 2001 Nissa Xterra. It works great, I don't take it slow down those dirt road to get to my riding spots either. Would I trust this rack with a really heavy bike, like a harley? Nope...but it works great for my 250lb dirtbike.

Glad I bought this.
I was assembling this with some trial and error as the instructions leave much to be desired. When I tightened the main bolts they stripped out. Also the wing nuts provided to store the ramp are too small for the holes that are drilled in it. The main bar is not even cut square, just seems like it was lopped off with a hand saw. Really poor quality and I will have to cut off the old hardware and go buy some quality hardware before I would ever put my cycle on this. Not a bad item just seems like the manufacturer dosent care if it will work or not. I guess they dont get many of them returned to China. The hardware looks to be stainless but its just a coating. dont trust it.
Previous reviews were pretty accurate. Cheap carrier made in China but works just fine with my CRF 230. 2 of the 4 included straps are garbage. Holes were slightly mis-drilled but I was able to force the bolts through the holes without re-drilling or stripping the threads. I ended up with a tiny bag of leftover screws that were not mentioned in the directions. I'm stoked on this purchase. Seems like a good value for the money. Free shipping from Amazon sealed the deal.
Carrier works well for my KTM 400 dirt bike. It is mostly aluminum; the piece that goes into receiver is steel as it should be. As others have mentioned, the provided tie downs are pretty wimpy. I used my regular tie downs instead. I do add short straps to the wheels when going long distances. Others have complained about getting bike out of carrier. Haven't had that issue; bike sits in carrier tightly but just grab the rear tire and roll bike back. Unit was reasonably priced. Already recommended to a friend, who already bought one.
Item arrived with no instructions and no hardware package. Not wanting to mess with sending it back, went to Atwoods and bought a few bucks worth of bolts, lock washers and nuts. Put on the two mounting flanges; the holes were not perfect but did work though they torqued the bolts a little. Then tried to install the alum ramp. One side fit like a glove; the other side the holes were off in the alum ramp by about .400". Tried to reverse the flange etc but it was definitely the ramp. Consequently, had to drill new holes in the misdrilled side.

This thing would not be too bad for what it is if there was any quality control at all. Not sending any hardware was pretty bad. Misdrilling two mounting holes by nearly a half inch was worse. I would not recommend this item and SHOULD have listened to those who had similar issues.
These carriers are all over the internet under different names ranging from 100 - 200. I bought mine from Discount Tommy via Amazon, it arrived just fine, and went together really easily with no trouble at all. I have done business with DT in the past, and I found them to be honest and nice to deal with. As for the carrier itself, it is simple and solid. No cheap plastic pieces or pop-rivets like some others. The aluminum and steel portions of this carrier are welded well, and the carrier has held up well with my 350lb bike. Another thing that is nice about these is that just normal easily replaceable bolts put this together, no specialty hardware that can break rendering it useless. For under $125 you really can't beat this rack.
Mine arrived damaged, looks like it was packed that way since the box didn't show any corresponding damage. These things are manufactured so cheaply you can't assemble it without grinding or re-drilling since the bolt holes don't align. Instructions are worthless as well as the tie-downs it comes with. It's the lowest price aluminum one on the market and you get what you pay for.
Bought this hitch hauler to haul a Yamaha Zuma 125 scooter on the back of a motorhome. Used it 2 weeks a ago for a 1,400 mile road trip. Worked great and no problems whatsoever. I was a little concerned since the tie down locations are at the middle (some competing products have tie down locations at the front and back of the platform) but the scooter held sturdy and didn't shift at all. Overall, a good product and worth the money!
Good product for the price.I had no trouble with anything lining up all went together just fine.Although picture shows larger bike being loaded onto ramp i would never trust its weight on a carrier like this. Also make sure that you have enough clearance in the back of your vehicle to get your bike or scooter on to ramp found out that i did not have enough room in back of vehicle and had to make an extension on main carrier to get bike ramped up easier. In addition ramp could be at least a foot longer. On any vehicle that is raised up a little the angle of ramp makes it near impossible to load.
Carrier is easy to use and looks really cool. I use it on my truck which leaves bed for kids bikes, riding gear, shade tent, etc. Great price, Great product.
Dirt bike Carrier arrived pretty quickly. I just finished putting it together and have to say it was a little difficult. I am very mechanically inclined. the main problem with this product is that some of the holes didnt line up properly. This caused the bolts to be installed at an angle and when they were tightened it caused them to strip a little. i havent put my bike on it yet, but as of right now it looks like it is a solid hitch.
I haven't been able to use this thing yet after a couple of weeks trying to locate a 1.25" to 2" hitch adapter that would work with this hitch. I have bought and returned 2 adapters so far because the holes failed to line up by about 1/8 of an inch. If I don't find an adapter that works, I will have to use my hacksaw to trim a bit off the end of this thing. It's not something I look forward to doing
